this was from Vietnam News on March 12, 2005 the year of the rooster.
Ha noi — A US judge has refused to allow a law suit by Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange against American chemical companies which manufactured the deadly dioxin.
...Some Vietnamese experts believe an appeal is possible on the legal precedent of a 1984 class-action settlement when manufacturers agreed to pay US$180 million to US veterans who died or became ill after exposure to defoliants.
...Professor Ngo Thanh Nhan, a member of the VAORRC, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, "if the medical files of Vietnamese AO victims are not convincing enough, we’ll use those of American soldiers."
"There is no reason why those who sprayed chemicals can get compensation for their contamination while the victims’ suit is rejected by an American court."
...The Agent Orange lawsuit was also discussed at a major two-day conference which opened yesterday in Paris. About 250 scientists from the United States, Viet Nam and other countries gave Viet Nam strong technical and moral backing to continue the lawsuit against the US chemical companies. — VNS
Course VNS is State News...
But for some reason I think they have a case here.
