Someone is making a lot of money

I just bought my plane ticket to visit Marlene.

I bought it online at www.fluege.de


These online companies have to learn. In the short run of course they can take my money, but in the long run they will not be able to survive. Fluege.de just lost my trust by hiding the cost of the ticket.

It is a usual practice. List the price of the flight as $70. Then when you actually get to the page to buy the ticket, you see there is the $15 "service fee" , and the $10 "credit card usage fee".

I will never use fluege.de again. never never never use them. they must learn.
Just give me the total cost up front when I get my search results!
Here is the breakdown:

Flugpreis: 38,21 EUR (flight cost)
Steuern: 31,30 EUR (tax)


this is the price they gave me in my search, 69.51 EUR.
then when I go to pay.

Servicepauschale: 14,93 EUR (service fee)
Gebühr für Zahlung per Kreditkarte: 9,52 EUR (credit card usage fee)

Gesamtpreis: 93,96 EUR (total price)

I went from expecting 69 EUR to paying 94 EUR. That is too steep an expectation difference!

Now to the main point.
15 EUR for service fee?! You are an online company?! You must be paying your people well, or are very stupid and have huge overhead cost. But I doubt it. Network & site maintenance cost. Adminstration cost. Small marketing/sales cost (online ads).
Besides, I did all the work! You are just a search engine!!! I am generous with people, not with search engines!!! The service you provided can be easily gotten from someone who hasn't hidden the final price.

And credit card fee?! My god! Does you company live in the dark ages?! Yes, your online company must pay the credit card comapany, ie Mastercard a fee, but that cost is more that made up in the increased volume you have because of the ease with which people can purchase tickets from your site. It is not like you own a small boutique, with large running cost and low customer traffic?!

I hope you learn, fluege.de, in time. Maybe you are even smart enough to crawl the blogspheres looking for negative reviews so that you can protect your brand (which is really the only thing you have). But it is too late with me. I will never use fluege.de again. Yes. I know I am a fool for falling into their trap.
Yes. I know that most of these travel sites use the same trick.
Yes. I know I probably won't find an honest pricing travel/flight ticket company, so that my little rant here won't do any good.
Yes. I know flying leaves a huge CO2 fingerprint. (my computer leaves a CO2 print too)

But then again, I find joy in pushing the rock up the hill everyday! I am autistic; repetitive actions soothes my soul.
