Revolution

Yesterday, I saw the status of Kamil on Facebook. It said "Finally, the arab peoples are taking history into their own hands from robbers and medieval clans."

Of course, I had no idea what this meant so I responded half jokingly with something like "and once they have it, what will they do with it then". Later in the day, I saw my comment had been erase, so I decided to investigate what indeed is going on in the Arab world.

Lo and behold, REVOLUTION!

Tunisia, Eygpt, and how many more?

Revolution enabled by increasing connectivity and technology. Mubarak had tried to silence the movement by those methods that have worked so well in the past. Intimidation and turning off the news, the information, and the communication. But it can't work anymore.

Just like Kamil's censorship of my comment, (which indeed was flippant and deserved to be deleted... maybe). But that way of censorship doesn't work anymore. My comments just pops up on another status. (well, here on my blog)

And maybe my comment wasn't so flippant. Where indeed will the movement take the Arabs?

For that matter, what will happen when the African people start moving?

Or the billion Chinese.

Will there be violence? Of course, but how can we help to prevent or at least attenuate it's destructive effects?



How indeed. My only contribution is to bring more exposure to their plight; it is a poor substitute for direct action, but safer, and much less violent.
