Riding to work

I watched two potential traffic accident on my bicycle ride to work.

In one, a car made a left in front of an oncoming truck. The truck had a snow shovel in front. The second was a few minutes later down a residential street. I heard a short honk and looked up to see a black car pass a red car. The driver of the black passing car was a young women talking on her cell phone. An older man was driving the passed car. He looked ethnic. I did not see the driver of the car that was almost hit by the truck, but let's assume that they were also young.

I bring these observation to explore the youth space. My immediate reaction was to chastize the reckless drivers. But I stop here. I do not want to stereotype the young (under 25 here but I still consider myself young). Upon reflection, I actually take hope from this. To be so confident in your abilities. "I can drive faster than you... while talking on the phone". This confidence or over-confidence some would say gives me hope. Yes, it was mis-applied here but its continued existence offers hope... at least I think so. You need the spirit and also the naivete of youth to push the boundary of any space. Human society grows and matures because the boundaries of our space is constantly being pushed to expand. I take joy in this. With expansion must come maturity. True expansion can only come thru maturity. Without maturity the space would only oscillate and eventully contract and die. (by death I mean our extinction)

Is that another paradox?! The youth actually are the driving force behind the maturation of our species?!

On a side note, I will try not to pollute this space with anymore of my stream-of-conscious pseudo-poetry crap.

That's not to say there won't be poetry... I just won't know poetry.
