Gmail and new design.

I am frustrated enough to blog here!

I am all for change. And I can see the rationale behind making the look across all the Google services to be consistent. But who is designing you junk?!?

It looks clean for sure, but my workspace. You know, the text box where I write shit is being sacrificed for these ridiculously large, empty space. The space for the Google search box, huge and mostly empty. The to: from: subject: box. huge empty space. What am I left with? A smaller working area.

I have hated this design strategy in every website/company that uses it. The extreme was on the old Yahoo page, which cluttered the page with everything so that your workspace is a tiny window where you have to constantly scroll up and down to work on your task.

Now Google is doing the same, but they are "cluttering" there clear page with empty space. It has the same annoying effect. It reduces my workspace to a tiny window!!!

It is the same across all their services since they have redesigned everything.

The automatic resizing is gone too. I found that disturbing a the beginning but go used to it and when I realized it maximized my workspace window, I loved it. Now it is gone again.

Even here. The blogging interface has a tiny work space that doesn't resize to fit my browser size. I will switch to the "new" interface and see...
