Office life vs. Life

Quick story.

I came into work today and the Senseo coffee maker was gone. I guess too many people were abusing it and so the owner took it home. This is typical office behavior reenacted across thousands of office break rooms.

Millions of people learning and not learning how to live with each other in a modern context.
The abusers probably don't think of themselves as abusers.

The person who brought the coffee maker has learn that people tend to just use with no respect or thought as to where the generosity came from.

The users have learned nothing. Even the disappearance of the coffee maker will not cause them to realize that it was them that cause its absence.

So globally we have this reenacted by billions of people. And not just in office break rooms. Generalizing, the "coffee machine" can not be taken away, but it is getting abused. And when it breaks everyone will think it was the other person that caused it. There will be a lot of finger pointing, but in the end the machine will be irreparably broken. And then extinction. Or we finally are born as the Star Child.

Maybe the office break rooms are the ideal teaching classroom. No one ever listens to the preacher. I can preach here endlessly and no one will listen, but in the break rooms perhaps a few will start to listen. A few might even start noticing that the accumulation of thousands of tiny insults by thousands of non-thinking individuals start to add up to one big Fucking Curse.

It's all been thought out already by fiction writers.
