US president "conservative" (although vast increase in govt isn't very conservative)
US congress "conservative" (although vast spending isn't very conservative)

World landscape:
Canada elects conservation
(ironically, Liberals are struggling with accusations of corruptionl. Power corrupts, liberal or conservative.)
(more irony, Liberals in power resulted in "eight consecutive budget surpluses".)

West going conservative?
While S. America goes socialist? Chavez & Evo Morales?
