Me like dog

Am living with this german shepard.
A barker he is, (speaking like Yoda... free association = these aren't the droids yur lookin for)

Anyways,
He's calm down since I first met him. One thing he still does is bark at the mailman.
No matter what we do, he aggressively barks when he hears/sees the person.

He'll even turn and show teeth if you try to pull him back from the window.
Now why am I bringing this up. Well, its instinct isn't it? A programmed behavior of sorts. And evertime I procrastinate, instead of working on this paper, I can't help but think that I'm behaving like the dog. To make matters worse, I'm cognizant of my bad behavior. At least he doesn't know (until we tell him to shutup and stop barking!). Its hard to break these behavior. We are hard wired to behavior a certain way (why do we procrastinate? I don't know). So we set up laws and increase the level of complexity with which we controll our behavior to compensate for the lag in the biological evolution that is needed to meet this new fitness landscape.
